2020-2023
Expanding Impact in Education, Literacy, and International Experience
Since 2020, Shadeen has expanded her expertise in education, literacy, teacher training, and global teaching. In 2022, she spent a year abroad as an English Teacher at Anukoolnaree School in Kalasin, Thailand, where she designed engaging lesson plans to promote English language development for middle and high school students. There, she collaborated with a team of educators to track student progress, create dynamic lessons, and facilitate English language learning activities, including competitions. Shadeen played a key role in adapting lessons for diverse learners, developing tailored objectives for beginner, intermediate, and advanced English speakers. She used culturally relevant materials and developmentally appropriate strategies to help students engage with English in real-world contexts, fostering meaningful communication and language practice. Upon returning to Philadelphia in March 2023, Shadeen connected with local educational organizations to continue her work in literacy and teacher development, bringing her global teaching experience back to the U.S. and expanding her impact on educators, families, and students.
2017-2020
Early Teaching Experience
From 2017 to 2020, Shadeen began her education career in foundational teaching roles. As a kindergarten student teacher with DC Public Schools (DCPS), she honed her teaching skills with a focus on culturally relevant practices, classroom management, and foundational literacy. She assisted with lesson planning and classroom teaching, helping to create a positive learning environment. During this time, she earned a Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University School of Education in 2019. Shadeen then transitioned into lead teaching roles, first as a Kindergarten teacher and later as a 2nd grade teacher in DCPS and Anne Arundel County Schools. After relocating to Philadelphia, Shadeen saw the growing need for individualized academic support following school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, she founded Lotus Tutoring Service, LLC, providing in-home and virtual tutoring services for PreK-4th grade students. Focused on addressing gaps in foundational learning and literacy skills, she tailored her services to meet students’ unique needs and supported families in developing effective educational strategies at home.
